Adherence to the principles of IWRM can not only improve water governance, but also to introduce modern water-saving technology, computer-aided control and water distribution management, distribution and monitoring to establish more efficient use of water.
After gaining independence in the country started a lot of work to diversify agricultural production. Instead, moisture capacity of crops such as cotton, rice and alfalfa, increased planting less water crops - corn, melons and other crops. If in the early 90s of last century, about 50% of irrigated cotton is held, and the remainder was used for food purposes, in modern terms, the share of cotton in irrigated agriculture is about 30%, the rest of the irrigated lands occupied by grains, food and fodder crops vital for the population. As a result, water intake throughout the country compared to the 80s over the years has decreased from 64 to 52 billion m3 per year.
Improving water management system. The country focuses on reclamation of irrigated lands. Fund established by Land Reclamation, adopted the State Programme of Land Reclamation in the period 2008-2012. To carry out these activities, including construction, reconstruction and rehabilitation of drainage systems, an annual allocation of more than 100 million dollars.
All this has improved the status of reclamation of more than 740 hectares of irrigated land, and greatly reduce the area of moderately lands, as well as to achieve reduction of groundwater levels, which ultimately had a positive impact on crop yields and water use by specific hectare.
